Fish Creek Relocation and Restoration
Since the early 1900s, mining has occurred at the Azusa Rock quarry. During that time, the upper portion of the creek had been relocated from its original location many times to allow for mining operations.
When Vulcan Materials acquried the property in 1999, the company began the process to move the creek back to its original location and to restore its biological and other natural geologic conditions. After setting its goal to relocate, restore and revegetate the creek, Vulcan obtained all the regulatory permits and authorities for approval and began the work, which was completed in 2003.
